A Decade of Marriage

I’ve spent an entire decade as Mrs. Lewis. That seems so long, and yet these years have gone by in the blink of an eye.

Michael and I met during our freshman year at college. He was a squirrely kid, but man, was he an amazing friend.

He liked me long before I returned those feelings, but I wrote in my journal at one point before I was interested in him that I was probably going to end up marrying him. And here we are, ten years after we said, “I do,” and I wouldn’t change it for the world.

He was different from any guy I liked before, but I realized that’s what made him the right guy.

He was honest.

He was genuine.

He was selfless.

He truly cared and wanted what was best for me.

He had a heart for others, and he followed whole-heartedly after God.

None of that has changed in the thirteen years that we’ve been together. He has brought my life so much joy, and he has been an amazing support and encourager. He turns my eyes back to God when they have strayed, and I know he would do anything for me.

I pray our girls also find guys who are honest, genuine, and selfless. May they find guys who look to God and help them grow in their relationship with Jesus. I pray that my girls end up just as blessed.
